Yule Cosmic Chronicle – Dec 2018

It’s finally December and time to breath in fresh air that’s filled with the wonders of sugar plums, fairy dust, and shimmering miracles. Yes, this is the month to not only feel the optimism, but embrace its full potential for the coming year. While you shake your head and wonder if you’re on the good drugs, I can assure you that you are not delusional. You’re feeling the positive and productive energy that Jupiter, the planet of money, expansion, optimism, and luck is showering down upon us! As an added bonus, Jupiter will be stationed in his home sign, Sagittarius, on December 12th, so it truly will feel like our hopes, dreams, wishes, and plans for the future can come true.

The last Mercury Retrograde for 2018 will come to an end, December 6th. Just in time to swing the doors of opportunity wide open and feel the love on the Sagittarian New Moon, December 7th. By that time you will have a good feeling about what area of your life Jupiter is targeting his magick. He doesn’t normally do a complete make-over, he just zeros in on a specific area that needs his power, wisdom and guidance.

Yule is celebrated on December 21st, the first day of winter and Winter Solstice. It’s also the shortest day of the year, then our days will slowly begin to get longer! The sun enters Earth Sign, Capricorn, on December 21st too. The name “Yule” derives from the Norse word for “wheel.” (Just thought you’d want to know that.) But, hang on as The Full Moon in Cancer falls on December 22nd. This Full Moon promises to bring domestic / family issues both positive and/or negative to a head. Yes, seriously. Things should mellow out by the time Santa and his 8 tiny reindeer make their global journey on December 24th. December 25th is Christmas Day.

As we wind down the month and the year, we’ll all feel like we can tackle anything that the New Year brings our way! We have the divine strength, and the formidable courage to handle it all!

The ancients believed that if they ate certain foods on New Year’s Day they would be blessed with luck, abundance, and fertility. Even if you’re not superstitious, why tempt fate? Give it a try, these foods were on their menu:

Pork; The expression “high on the hog” refers to the choice cuts of pork, those from the loin, shoulder and upper leg, including ham, sausage, whole roasted suckling pig, ham hocks, bacon, pancetta, pork roast, cooked anyway you choose. Black-Eyed Peas, Hoppin’ John, Greens, and Cornbread is a southern New Year’s Day menu tradition.
Fish; Symbolizes abundance and wealth as there are so many of them in the sea. Cooked anyway you choose.
Soba Noodles and Rice; Symbolizes luck, fertility, abundance and wealth – cooked anyway you choose.
Greens; Symbolizes money, abundance, health, wealth – cooked anyway you choose.
Lentils; Symbolizes good health, luck, longevity, abundance – cooked anyway you choose.
Cakes; Ring-shaped cakes and deserts symbolize a full circle of luck to the eater throughout the New Year. Bundt cakes are perfect for New Year’s Day.
